Training roll out for LDX Health Checks - Bristol PCT

The first training sessions began in Bristol PCT on Friday May 14th with 12 practices participating along with Sarah Hollington (Bristol PCT project lead) to begin the implementation across the City.

We also were delighted to welcome Dr Wolf Woltersdorf (Cons. In Chemical Pathology,University Hospitals Bristol) and Kerry Grant (SBMS POCT North Bristol Trust).

We are also developing more ideas with the Point of Care team to ensure the testing is done to the highest standards and that quality standards and guidance are adhered to and maintained throughout the
programme.

The interactive session was an example of the comprehensive structured training provided to the participants to ensure the quality and competance standards. The practice based staff took away training
& education materials along with our telephone helpline to ensure total support (even out of hours) for those involved in
testing.

Further training sessions are already over subscribed and our colleagues in the Clinical Chemistry point of Care group are integral to the process of rolling the Health Checks programme out in Bristol to a high level of competency.

Our thanks to Sarah Hollington from Bristol PCT and staff at Greenway Practice with the venue and facilities.
