The environmental management system is designed to ensure the organisation recognises the aspects of its business activities that have an impact on the environment and provides a framework for setting and reviewing the environmental objectives and targets, whilst balancing these against business needs.

At Inverness Medical UK, we will continually strive to improve our environmental performance and in particular, we will:

• Ensure that we will comply with existing and future environmental legislation and other requirements relative to our business activities.
• Provide environmental training for our staff and encourage them to apply good environmental practice.
• Request that suppliers of In-Vitro Diagnostic products adopt good environmental practices particularly concerning packaging.
• Give preference to ecological sound products when purchasing non-saleable goods.
• Identify and seek to reduce any harmful and environmental effects which arise from our business and show a continual commitment to the prevention of pollution:
  • Minimise, re-use and recycle all materials wherever practicable.
  • Conserve natural resources through energy reduction improvement activities.
  • Maintain effective controls to minimise the risk of fire and hence pollution to the environment.
