Alere Determine™ HIV 1/2 Ag/Ab Combo
The Alere Determine™ HIV-1/2 Ag/Ab Combo test enables simultaneous separate detection of free non immunocomplexed HIV p24 antigen (Ag), and antibodies (Ab) for HIV-1 and HIV-2 in human serum, plasma or whole blood.
The simultaneous detection of two marker types reduces the "window period", making the test capable of detecting HIV infection several days earlier than third generation antibody only rapid tests.
The easy to use, robust, rapid format enables HIV testing to be conducted in a broad range of clinical settings with clear, reliable results in just 20 minutes.
The ability of this new test to enhance diagnosis of those with acute HIV infection will provide additional benefits in HIV prevention programmes and ultimately contribute to a reduction in the spread of HIV.
Specimen collection can be by venipuncture or fingerstick.
No device refrigeration required.
