Telomere PNA
Prior to mitotic cell division, all cellular DNA is duplicated by the action of a DNA polymerase. However, this enzyme does not replicate the very ends of the chromosomes, the so-called telomere region.
The Telomere PNA kit/FITC for flow cytometry provides a convenient method for detection of the telomeric sequences in nucleated haematopoietic cells from vertebrates without inclusion of subtelomeres.
The Telomere PNA kit/FITC kit uses PNA probes which are superior to DNA probes in terms of their sensitivity and specificity and is an optimal assay for estimation of telomere length as the fluorescent intensity of the cells is directly correlated to the length of the telomeres.
