Alere Pima™ CD4 Test Cartridge
The Alere Pima CD4 test cartridge is to be used with the Alere Pima CD4 Analyser. Please see here for more information.
The dried reagent sealed within the Alere Pima CD4 test cartridge contains CD3 and CD4 detection markers. Once the cartridge is inserted into the Analyser the reagents are dissolved into the blood sample.
At this time the sample interacts with CD3 and CD4 specific monoclonal antibodies each labelled with a different fluorescent dye.
T-helper cells are automatically detected by determining where fluorescent signals from both CD4 and CD3 antibodies are found on the same cell. The stained sample is then spread along the detection channel to await image capture.
The co-located signals within the detection channel are then counted and correlated against the volume of the detection channel and the absolute CD4 count displayed in Cells / μL right on the analyser screen.
