Pastorex® Meningitis
For the Detection of N. meningitidis A, B/ E. coli K1, C, Y/W135, H. Influenzae Type b, S. pneumoniae, Streptococcus B.
Bacterial meningitis is an infection of the meninges and can be either an acute or chronic disease depending on the infective agent. The primary agents causing bacterial meningitis, an infection of the brain meninges, are Neisseria meningitidis, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae Type b, and group-B streptococci.
Because meningitis is a life-threatening disease, rapid identification is critical for the initiation of correct antimicrobial therapy.
The Pastorex™ Meningitis kit consists of colored latex particles coated with mouse monoclonal or rabbit polyclonal antibodies for the direct qualitative detection and identification of Neisseria meningitidis, A, B/E coli K1, C, Y/W 135; Haemophilus influenzae Type b; Streptococcus pneumoniae; and group B streptococci.
