NHS Health Checks - British Heart Foundation / UK Biobank
Widely respected in the healthcare community, the British Heart Foundation (BHF) has been instrumental in defining the risk factors that predispose to vascular disease and evaluating and promoting the treatments and lifestyle changes that can prevent it. The Foundation is leading the way in developing and delivering screening programmes and is already undertaking vascular risk assessments in the community and as part of the unprecedented UK Biobank project. PCTs looking for examples of best practice can benefit from the BHF’s experience and have confidence that its programmes meet the ‘best available’ criteria, representing a proven and credible response to the vascular screening challenge.
