NHS Health Checks - Hull Healthy Hearts

Hull, with a population of 260,000 is ranked as the 11th most deprived local authority in England with 8 of its 23 wards in the bottom 2% nationally. 35% of the city’s population (91,000 people) are experiencing health inequalities and premature deaths from CVD in the city’s most deprived areas are up to 50% higher than the national average.

Hull PCT is in the ‘Spearhead’ Group of PCTs, established by the government to address geographical inequalities in life expectancy, cancer, heart disease, stroke and related diseases. There are 88,000 people in Hull in the 40-64 years age group, of whom 75,000 are not already on CVD-related registers and it is estimated that 20 -25% of these will be at high risk from CVD.
