Connecting withNHS Health Checks

The sudden announcement of what is now called the NHS Health Checks programme in April 2008 gave many PCTs a real headache in trying to set up such a programme from scratch.

The so called “spearhead” areas of England had had extra funding to combat high CVD mortalities, and there were a number of “best practice examples” from these areas, referred to on the “Next Steps” documentation and on the NHS Improvements website- many of which use the LDX , an accurate and operator independent NPT instrument.

Because Alere personnel had been involved in so many best practice examples of Health Check roll outs, and had been asked by many PCTs and Service providers to comment on implementation issues such as operator training, premises, equipment, quality control, clinical governance, communication of risk, data transfer etc we put together a draft NHS Health Check service SOP.
