One-Stop NHS Health Check with the Alere™ Cholestech LDX®
Having earned an excellent reputation over several years and established its credentials in high profile community schemes for the British Heart Foundation and the HEART UK / Flora 'Test The Nation's Hearts' programme, the LDX is the first choice for many PCTs and external service providers. The MRHA-evaluated analysers were used for over 180,000 NHS Health Checks in 2009 in a range of community settings, from GP surgeries and clinics to supermarkets, churches, business premises and community centres.
The analyser needs just a finger prick blood sample to perform a complete lipid profile and glucose measurement in less than 5 minutes. It is compact, convenient and simple to use, making it ideal for all community settings. In a recent independent evaluation by Royal Free Hospital, the LDX showed excellent correlation with laboratory testing and demonstrated a substantial 35% reduction in screening costs.

Our research has shown that many PCTs remain uncertain about how best to implement 'Health Checks' and unfamiliarity with point of care testing has contributed to many Trusts 'sitting on the fence'.
