FOCUS 2010: The Challenges of POCT at Alere

Alere would like to thank you for taking the time to visit our stand at FOCUS in Glasgow.

We are pleased to announce that the winner of the POCT challenge was Gillian Gray of Monklands Hospital who completed the course in the lightning fast time of 7.56 seconds.

Gillian is a Clinical Biochemist and is involved in the recently set up Point Of Care Committee for Lanarkshire. She was very excited to have won the iPad, as she is normally last to get her hands on the latest technology!

As you are aware Alere is a global leader in point of care testing and at this year’s FOCUS we took the opportunity to introduce some of our innovative new products such as EPOC - a Blood Analysis system with Wi-Fi connectivity and our fourth generation rapid test for HIV.

Our main objective at FOCUS was to discuss the challenges you face with regards to implementing POCT in the Hospital and in Community settings. We really appreciate that so many of you took the time to give us your feedback on the approach that we are taking.
