Insulin-like growth factor binding protein-1 (IGFBP-1) is present at exceedingly high levels in amniotic fluid. The levels of IGFBP-1 are low or undetectable in other fluids such as normal adult serum; serum from pregnant woman; urine and semen.

It is crucial to know if a pregnant woman is experiencing PROM so that the appropriate action can be taken. The Actim PROM tests can give a rapid reliable result to not only allow for such planning but to be able to confidently diagnose the pregnant mother.

The high specificity of insulin-like growth factor binding protein-1 (IGFBP-1) allows you to confidently identify amniotic fluid allowing a reliable diagnosis of premature rupture of the membrane (PROM).
