PlGF is found to be at low levels in pregnant women with preeclampsia. The Triage PLGF test is a rapid test to quantify the level of PlGF.

Alere Triage PLGF can increase confidence in capturing the women with preeclampsia by highlighting those with placental issues. This not only minimises the chance of catastrophic events from sending home women whom may need further intervention but also allows for a clear message to be given to the pregnant woman and her family to allow for the necessary time for understanding and planning for their situation.

In pregnant women presenting with hypertension, a low PlGF result is indicative of a placental problem.
